Learn More About Myopia Control Treatments

Myopia (short-sightedness) is caused by irreversible elongation of the eyeball, resulting in light focusing in front of the retina and producing a blurred image. Evidence suggests that by 2050, 50% of the global population will be myopic. In New Zealand, the prevalence of myopia is increasing, particularly among young children. This condition can negatively affect learning, academic performance, sports participation, and everyday activities.

At Visique Botany Optometrists, our mission is to provide comprehensive vision and eye health care to achieve the best outcomes for myopic eyes.

A two-year course of topical low-dose atropine eye drops is used in combination with glasses or contact lenses for myopia control. This treatment helps with myopia control while minimizing adverse effects and rebound effects.

Eyerising Myopia Management Device: this device emits visible red light through the pupil to help regulate eye growth, serving as a time-efficient alternative to outdoor light exposure. It is used in combination with glasses or contact lenses for optimal results.
